Internship at Prison Fellowship

This past summer, I have had the privilege to serve as a Marketing and Program Assistant Intern for Prison Fellowship, a non-profit organization in Lansdowne, VA.

Here is a sample of my graphics work that I did during my summer. I had to redesign and rebrand some of the graphics that were on the website. The gallery below includes CD designs, bookmarks, website graphics, email templates, and more.

I had such a wonderful experience and greatly appreciate everything I learned this summer!

To my future child…

It’s our last project of the year. We were given the freedom to basically create anything we wanted.

The idea basically came to me because I wanted to make a video that gave advice to my future child, ideally to give to him/her when I’m older.

I decided to do a series of interviews asking, “If you could give advice to your future child, what would you say?”

Storms Will Pass – Stop Motion Project

, , ,

From 11 p.m. until 9 a.m I worked on my stop motion project. That’s a total of 10 hours that went into the making of this 55 second stop motion video.

Although I ended up pulling an all-nighter, I enjoyed the process because I worked on it straight and really was able to get into it.

Being a college student limits your resources, and so I was thinking about what to do for my stop motion project.  I decided to use sticky notes for my video, and ended up using a ton of sticky notes for the majority of my project.

Surreal Photography

My professor often talks about figuring out whether you want to document or create.  I struggled with this assignment, and I actually ended up learning that I am best if I document, not try to create on my own.

Nonetheless, here are my five surreal photos:

Technology Mash Up

Jonathan Rosenberg, Chief Technology Strategist for Skype, gave a speech at Elon about the past present and future of technologies.

We had a unique assignment.

The first part contained filming a short 15-20 second clip of yourself saying one thing you learned from his speech.

Thenn was to create a mash up of the class’ clips.

Here’s what I came up with:

Logos and Graphic Design

We were asked to create a logo design for both Elon’s Winter Term 2013 and Elon’s School of Communications.

The upcoming Winter Term is focused on diversity and asked  us to create a logo and phrase for them. I like my idea but think I still have more to do on the design.

For the School of Communications, I went with a simple yet sleek design.

Here’s what I came up with:

Time Lapse: Beauty

Our next assignment was to create a time lapse. He wanted us to focus on time manipulation, whether it be fast or slow.

I wanted to do a piece on beauty and how much time girls spend trying to make themselves feel beautiful, yet present the message of them not realizing they already have the beauty that is inside of them.

Night Photography

Our next photography assignment was night photography and light writing.  This assignment proved to be the most difficult for me because I felt like I didn’t have the best resources for night photography.  I didn’t want to just take pictures around Elon, but it was hard to venture off without having a car.  I managed to find some good shots, and tried to pay attention to the details.

I had a lot of fun with the light writing though! It was fun to experiment with the settings and play around with flashlights and other sources of light.

Overall, I enjoyed the assignment and look forward to more experimentation in the future.
